What is "I am Groot" going to be about ?



 I Am Groot is an American animated series of shorts created by Kirsten Lepore for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics character Groot. It features characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), following Baby Groot going on various adventures that get him into trouble. The mischievous toddler Baby Groot learns how to grow up amongst the trouble in the stars along with the help of his friends and family in the ragtag superhero team the Guardians of the Galaxy. It is set between the ending of the film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) and one of its mid-credits scenes. The series is produced by Marvel Studios, with Lepore serving as head writer and director.


Now that we have some sort of idea of what will unfold in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (but no real clue what's going to unfurl in the Guardians Holiday Special later this year), we'll get our baby Groot fix with this five-episode run of Groot-centric shorts. The first trailer dropped at SDCC and we learned that Vin Diesel is back as Groot, with Bradley Cooper on board to give voice to the ever-surly Rocket Raccoon.



The series was announced by Kevin Feige during The Walt Disney Company's Investor Day on December 10th, 2020. It will be one of James Gunn's final Marvel Studios projects as he already announced his resignation from MCU after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.



"I Am Groot" is scheduled to premiere with five shorts on Disney+ on August 10, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. An additional five shorts are in development.
